I've lived in Chicago for twelve years and love the city life; but, in my opinion Fourth of July is best spent the old-fashioned way in West Michigan. Our 4th was complete with lots of time in the water (hello 100 degree weather), grilling, laughing with family and watching fireworks which rival Chicago (no exaggeration).
The highlight this year might have been watching the Payne Lake Boat Parade. Families decorate boats in theme, complete with music and even throw popsicles to parade viewers.
