Nosebleeds

Jason and I went to see the Cubs vs Pirates game with Jamie and Filip on Monday night. What a great night for a school night! The seats were in the upper deck, but the view was actually great.

Now if I could just remember how to play.

Harry Connick Jr

Tuesday was Anu's birthday and we bought tickets to one of her fav. shows. We saw Harry at The Chicago Theater followed with drinks at the rooftop of The Wit Hotel. Two days later Andi had a going away party and now the group is forever changed, she is the first to leave Chicago. She'll start an International Medicine fellowship in NYC this summer.

Rachel Got Married

This weekend I traveled to Cincinnati for my college sorority and water polo co-captain Rachel's wedding. I had so much fun catching up with my girlfriends, teammates and their husbands and even some of our old rivals from IU.

After my trip to Atlanta two weeks ago, I knew this bridal party was going to be a blast. I was not let down. We had so much fun preparing for the wedding and shutting down the dance floor. I can't wait to see the professional photos.

Many of you don't know Rachel, but who doesn't like good wedding photos.....

Tulip Bouquet- we made them ourselves!

Every detail of the day was perfect. Look at these shoes and

dress. She wore an amazing old fashion hat. I wish I'd gotten photos.

John will move in to their home this week. Here he is waiting outside in 90 degree heat with his eyes closed waiting to see Rachel for the first time.

Her first glimpse of him.

Down by the river.

Lately, I have been less than thrilled with work. I love being a doctor and caring for patients. I love teaching and learning on a daily basis. But what I dont love is the political things that happen not matter what your career choice is. It's been hard to get myself to come in with a good attitude every day, but I've been trying to stay upbeat and focus on patient care and teaching residents rather than worrying about the things which are out of my control.

Then today I get this email:

Major Emergency Exercise, Wednesday, June 16

On Wednesday, June 16, Rush will host a major emergency exercise with theIllinois National Guard. Soldiers will be here acting as victims inthe simulated disaster event. Large decontamination tents will be set up on Flournoy Street. Also, three Black Hawk helicopters will be taking off and landing between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. from Pasteur Park at Wood and Harrisonstreets, near the Rush emergency department entrance. Please do not be alarmed, and please share this information with visitors and patients.

Is it strange that I am excited for this tomorrow??

The Future Mrs. Griner

After a fantastic visit from my college friend Kim with a great dinner at Perennial on Friday night, I took an early flight to Atlanta to celebrate Rachel's bachelorette with the other bridesmaids. We certainly gave her a proper goodbye to her single days staying at the W in Midtown, with plenty of shopping, cocktails, fancy resturants and ridiculousness that led late into the morning. I can't wait to spend the weekend with these girls again in two weeks when Rachel walks down the isle.

Work in Progress

Still needs a few finishing touches, but here is where I plan to drink my coffee every morning this summer.
