Don't Knock Rural Michigan

So what if the radio station feels the need to censor out "smoking funny things" from Kid Rocks latest hit. Perhaps the lawn is a reasonable place to park your car? The people in rural Michigan seem to have everything else right.

They wake up to this view....

They change lanes when they see you are riding your bike or jogging down the road.
They don' t lock their doors and the neighbors sell pumpkins on the front lawn.
Perhaps the best is being walking distance to Michigan's oldest working Cider Mill, Bowen Mills, built in 1864. The cider is great!

Living in the boonies isn't so bad after all.

A Whole New Look at My Research

Most of you know I spend my time at working researching Hepatitis C.
After a discussion today Natalie Cole's recent diagnosis of Hepatitis C, I was interested to find out what other famous people have/had the disease. Some of the frequent vistors of my blog may recognize the talents above.

Here is a short list of some of the names I recognized:

Pam Anderson
Steven Tyler
Mickey Mantle (he had a liver transplant)
Jack Kevorkian (aka Dr Death- Michigan Medical School grad)
Phil Lesh (lucky guy got a new liver too!!)
Gregg Allman
David Crosby (now with a new liver!)
Naomi Judd

Evel Knievel even had a liver transplant in 1999 due to Hepatitis C!

I can honestly say I'm more excited than ever to play with those little liver cells and work to understand this crazy virus better!

Amanda and Aaron's Wedding Day

Amanda and Aaron had a beautiful outdoor wedding at The Henry Ford Estate in Dearborn. The reception was held inside the estate.
Amanda's friend Allie designed her amazing dress and she wore her mother's vail. Allie also designed each one of the bridesmaids dresses to fit our personalities. One of the bridesmaids has a 12 day old baby and another is due in one week! Allie out did herself with these fabulous dresses.
Aaron's medical school friends decided to have a "shop off" at a local strip mall and dress each other in "wedding appropriate attire." Amanda looks more innocent here than she did later while doing the worm across the dance floor.

Our medical school friends made the event as well. Below are Nathan (who also has a 13 day old daughter) Jordana, Steve, me and Kevin.

And one last shot of the med school clan.

Amanda and Aaron's Rehersal Dinner

Aaron's Mother put on an amazing rehersal dinner at The Hyatt in Dearborn. We all sat at one big table and took turns getting up and talking. Amanda's brother put together a great slide show which we watched while we ate.....Then the party continued until 4 am in one of the hotel rooms upstairs. Let's just say that going to medical school clearly halted the maturing of many of us.
