Kohler Weekend

This weekend Annie and I squeezed in a quick trip to Kohler, Wisconsin for a spa getaway.
When I say "quick," I mean it.  We were there for less than 24 hours, but we left feeling 100 percent revived and relaxed.

Annie drove up from Chicago and met me in Milwaukee.  45 minutes of fast past talking and venting later and we arrived at The Kohler Spa in The Carriage House.  Still on turbo speed, we walked in and people were talking into a lovely space where people were talking in soft voices and guests wandering around in bathrobes.  Exhale.

We were escorted downstairs to the Kohler Water Spa.  People were lounging around on chairs reading, drinking tea.  Soaking one of many pools, hot tubs, steam rooms.  This place was perfect.
We quickly changed and started with our TWO HOURS of planned services.
We had choosen the citrus revivor, which was an experience like no other.  Laying on a heated, water bed like massage table, being scrubbed from head to toe with citrus body scrub all while under a crazy Vichy water spray hydrotherapy.  A-MAZE-ING.
Then onto a 50 minute massage in a quiet room complete with a fireplace.

Dinner at Blackwolf Run

After the spa we checked into our room at The Inn at Woodlake.  The frozen lake had an ice rink and curling.  People were snowshoeing and cross country skiing.  The Kohler resort has so many fantastic restaurants and you can take shuttle anywhere in the resort.  We felt like a casual dinner so we headed over to Blackwolf Run.  Delicious and loved the northwoods ambiance.

After dinner we took the shuttle back to the American Club and explored.  This place is packed with history.  Every place you turn is a new treasure.
An old library now bar, a greenhouse now turned coffee/sweets shop and a number of "jacket required" dining options.  We wandered around and found a room tucked in a corner of the second floor.  The lights were off, but we turned them on and discovered THIS.

Sunday morning we enjoyed the most difficult yoga class I've ever been to at Yoga on the Lake before packing up and heading home.   Next time we will make time for the museum, the fitness complex and maybe some golf!

Twenty four hours well spent.
